- Use 1 kg chicken
- Provide 200 gms green urad dal
- Take 3 medium sized onion cut into fine slices
- Prepare 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
- You need 3 dry red chilies
- Provide 2 bay leaves
- Take 1 inch cinnamon
- You need 2 black cardamoms
- Use 3 green cardamoms
- Get 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Get 2 medium sized tomatoes
- Take 1 tsp turmeric powder
- You need 1 tsp Coriander powder
- Take 1 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
- Prepare As per taste Salt
- Prepare 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- Provide 1/4 cup & 2 tbsp oil
- Take As required Water
- Take Handful Coriander leaves chopped
Steps to make Dalcha:
- Take a kadhai heat 1/4 cup oil, dry red chilli and all the whole spices then saute for 30 seconds then add onion saute untill onion turn golden brown. Then add ginger garlic paste, saute few seconds. Add chicken and mix.
- Cook it for 4-5 minutes. Then add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and 1 tsp salt. Add chopped tomatoes and saute. Cook it on high flame for 3-4 minutes or untill the oil release. Add little water, cover and cook it for 10 minutes on medium flame and turn off the flame.
- Now in a pressure cooker take dal add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt, water as required to tender the dal. Cook it for 3 whistles. Release the pressure naturally.
- Open the cooker when the dal is soft then add the whole chicken gravy in it and mix very well. Add 1/3 cup water and adjust the salt and cook it for one boil comes. Next, add garam masala powder and coriander leaves and turn off the flame. Serve with roti or naan.
