Instructions to make Mutton Chukka:
  1. In a pan heat the oil. Add in the cumin seeds, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, bay leaf and let it crackle.
  2. Add in onion, dry chillies, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves and saute for 2 mins
  3. Add mutton, salt to taste and mix well
  4. Cover the pan and cook in medium heat for 10-15 mins stirring it occasionally till the water released by mutton evaporates.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till it turns mushy.
  6. Add the turmeric powder, cumin powder, fennel powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chilli powder, pepper powder, mix well and cook for a min.
  7. Add required water, cover the pan and cook in medium heat till the mutton is cooked completely. Mine took 40-45 mins. Cooking time will differ depending upon the tenderness of your meat. Add water little at a time and cook till the meat is tender and cooked completely.
  8. Add chopped coriander leaves, cook for a mins or two in high heat and take off the heat.
